Sedona is one of the best places in the country if you're looking to add some adventure to your elopement. Amongst the red rocks and stunning formations of Arizona’s desert landscape is Cathedral Rock. Cathedral Rock’s epicness is no secret, as it’s one of the most popular vistas and thrilling hikes in the area😍😍😍
Is Cathedral Rock the Perfect Spot for Your Adventure Elopement?
Although the trail is only 1.2 miles round trip, it’s a steep climb to the top of this sucker! Recently, I got to photograph a sweet, adventurous couple’s elopement up there and we all agreed— the sweat is totally worth the view❤️
Here are 6 good reasons to elope on top of this incredible rock:
You want a short hike to get to some sweet views
In less than an hour, you can get from the parking lot to the top, so it’s perfect for couples looking for a short hike (even if it is a challenging one😉)
2. You Want a Trail that Includes Scrambling
You don’t have to hike up to the top in your dress (although, that’s extremely badass and every hiker passing by will applaud you☺️). If you do chose to hike in your dress, make sure you’re able to move around in it REALLY WELL! There are several occasions along the trail where you’ll be using all fours!
3. You Want Beef Jerky Instead of Wedding Cake
You’ll be burning a lot of energy getting to the top of this cliff but rest assured, I bring the best snacks!
4. You Want Your Dress to Get a Little Dirty
Because if you didn’t, you probably shouldn’t be trying to have an Adventure Elopement 😜😉😁
5. You Don’t Want to Pay Permit Fees for a Ceremony Location
That’s right! Unlike a lot of beautiful locations that require you to apply for a a wedding permit that usually costs anywhere from $100-$500 dollars, the only fee you’ll have to pay here is for the $5 parking pass✌️

Arizona sunsets are already so stinking amazing but from on top of this cliff, we are gonna make some DOOOOOPE shots!
