What Dresses to Wear For Your Elopement

Your Guide to Dope Elope Attire

What you wear for your epic elopement means a lot. You def wanna be comfy and feeling your best on your wedding day🤌 This guide will help you achieve that while giving you inspo for your elopement look.

What to Consider For Your Elopement Attire

Where Are You Eloping?

The season you are eloping in can really determine what you want to wear. Warmer climates with sunny days will call for dresses made of lace, chiffon, batiste, or georgette. The materials are lightweight and will help you stay cooler while trekking through the mountains or exploring the desert.

For cooler weather consider dresses made of silk or velvet. Dresses with sleeves can also help you stay warmer. If you want. a lighter, flowy dress but are worried about being cold we recommend these fleece lined leggings for under your dress! Pairing your dress with your favorite jacket or puffy will also help you stay nice and warm.

What Activities Are You Doing On Your Day?

If you are going to be hiking, climbing, canyonerring, or via ferata-ing for your elopement then you better get yourself a dress that can move with you! Think about your elopement day activities before finding that dream dress so you can do them all with ease!

When trying on dresses see how you can move in them. Dance around, do some high knees, and try a squat. Sounds super silly but we want you to be comfy! Comfort should be next on your list for how a dress feels. You don’t wanna be wearing something for a few hours that you can’t wait to get out of. You should friggin LOVE your dress and it should love ya right back.

Above all, find the outfit that makes you feel amazing. The dress that leaves you feeling like a bad ass is definitely the one 😍

Hiking in Your Dress vs Packing It Out

Yes- tons of peeps do hike in their dresses😛 We recommend this for shorter hikes where you dress allows a lot of movement or is easy to hold while hiking. Your partner can also help ya hold it as you go! If you dress is a little snug, we like the technique of wearing shorts or leggings or hike in, and pulling your dress up over your hips for better movement.

For longer hikes or with dresses that don’t allow a ton of movement you can choose to pack it out with you. This can be done with your dress it it’s garment bag slung over your shoulder or rolled up into your pack (if it won’t wrinkle). Then you can change in nature when you reach the epic views 🙌

Traveling With Your Wedding Attire

If you are flying to your elopement destination we really recommend you carry on your wedding attire. The panic that comes with lost bags is no fun, and it’s super no fun when your dress is in one of those bags 😭

Attire can be transported in it’s garment bag. Depending on the fabric you may be able to roll up the bag kinda like a sleeping bag or fold it into a bag to make it on the plane. Some planes even have fancy closets for clothes if you opt to fly first class. You can also give the airline a call to see if that’s available for you!

Don’t Be Afraid to Get Your Wedding Attire Dirty!

You are planing an adventure elopement after all - so you can be sure that your attire is going to get dirty. Whether it’s your dress getting some nice red desert ombré, mud from the mountains, or glacial silt, your clothes get to go on an adventure just like you! 👌
